I decided to make a dress that would fit through the studio door, but one that would still be quite full. I was influenced by Velázquez, an artist whom I greatly admire, who painted the elegant ladies of the Spanish court. Dresses with wide hips were definitely the style in his day. This is my own couture, made of paper and glue on a dress form. The piece measures 5'4" x 55" x 24". I had intended to make this dress frillier, however, it did not want to end up that way.
